Rebekah Selena Buffong, professionally known as BEKA BARZ, is a British born rapper, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer from Worcestershire. She is the daughter of a Montserratian father and Pakistani mother and first found her love for music being raised in the Seventh Day Adventist church, as a PK (Preacher's Kid). During her teenage years she developed a passion for rap, finding it a restorative way of expressing the feelings and emotions she felt surrounding her sexual identity. She has since carved out her own lane in the music industry blending infectious melodies with raw articulate rhymes.
She has emerged from many diverse projects over the past decade and a half. Unafraid to make you laugh, cry, vent, dance, or think deeply, she effortlessly challenges the boundaries of what an artist can do. Although it is hard to draw a line in the sand when it comes to the genre she will create, you’ll know a BEKA BARZ record when you hear it.
Her dedicated fanbase inspires her passion for sharing genuine music. She confidently takes control of her creative vision by directing and editing her own visual content alongside her wife through their joint ventures, Four Reel and Propel Pictures.
In January 2024, Beka was recognised as one of BBC Asian Network's 'Ones To Watch', solidifying her status as an artist on the rise. Her live shows are a sight to behold, with her energetic stage presence and undeniable charisma captivating audiences. Headlining the BBC Introducing stage at Latitude Festival in 2023 showcased her innate ability to command a crowd.
Her talent has caught the attention of industry tastemakers, leading Beka to be featured as the 'Step Up' artist on BBC Radio 1xtra and 'Artist of the Week' on BBC Asian Network, a testament to her growing impact in the UK music scene.
